1734	Στο Μόντρεαλ της Νέας Γαλλίας (στο σημερινό Καναδά), η σκλάβα Μαρί-Ζοζέφ Ανζελίκ απαγχονίζεται, αφού πρώτα βασανίστηκε δημόσια και ομολόγησε την ενοχή της για τον εμπρησμό που κατέστρεψε μεγάλο μέρος της πόλης.
1919	Γενική απεργία στην Γουίνιπεγκ του Καναδά καταστέλεται βιαίως από την αστυνομία, με αποτέλεσμα τον θάνατο δύο απεργών και τον τραυματισμό άλλων δεκαπέντε («Ματωμένο Σάββατο»).
1994	Η ελληνική εθνική ομάδα ποδοσφαίρου δίνει τον πρώτο της αγώνα σε παγκόσμιο κύπελλο και χάνει από την Αργεντινή με 4–0. Τρία γκολ σημειώνει ο Μπατιστούτα και ένα ο Μαραντόνα.
