The British Bases (SBA) issued a warning on Saturday that the Ladies Mile beach should not be used for swimming until further notice.
According to the bases, recent water analyses have revealed unsafe levels of enterococci in the seawater and that efforts were underway by both SBA and Cypriot environmental experts to identify the source of the contamination with further analysis results expected early next week.
