
Copywriters, writers, journalists and language professionals in Cyprus were among those most affected as jobs in the publishing sector fell by 28.4 per cent, the steepest drop recorded across the EU, according to Eurostat data.
The figures, which refer to 2023, cover employment in books, newspapers, magazines and other publications.
Across the EU, 868,700 people were employed in the sector in 2023, a 2.5 per cent decrease compared to 2022.
