The 34-year-old man appeared before the Larnaca Criminal Court on Wednesday for kidnapping a woman, causing malicious damage and assaulting a police officer.
His detention order was requested, and he will stay in custody until May 26 when the trial will begin.
The police received a complaint last week that a man had hit a woman in a Larnaca car park, forced her into a car and driven off.
